A significant number of shoulder fractures are managed conservatively and provide satisfactory results. However, at times it is not possible to avoid surgery for these injuries. With improved shoulder fracture specific implants being designed, the treatment of these injuries has become easier with a far more predictable clinical outcome.

In fact, in some injuries such as tuberosity fractures of the humerus and certain selected fractures of the glenoid, it is possible to fix them entirely arthroscopically.
